Although we'd lost touch in recent years, now bitterly regretted, Martin was one of the very great mates I had the joy of making during my six years in Croydon and not least as a member of Purley Downs Golf Club. As a very 'green' 20 year old from a small island, lets just say those were some very formative years for me and filled with some truly happy memories in which Martin played a very large part. The 19th at Purley, Snifters wine bar and Scarlets just to mention a few regular venues will 'ring bells' with quite a few I'm sure and maybe trigger a few memories and stories even after 40 years!! Without doubt a time in my life and Martin, one of the great friends I had the good fortune of making back then, never to be forgotten. And although I can't be there in person on Wednesday to say a final goodbye, I'll definitely be 'raising a glass' at that time here in Guernsey in your memory. RIP my old friend. But has sadly left his family and friends far too soon and thoughts are very much with Jacqui, Cam and Libby at this time.
